Effigy Consulting is thrilled to announce that Baptiste Brossard-Kimmel, its Managing Director, was interviewed by L’Echo Républicain.
The development of locker networks raises the issue of real estate and the associated investments – a concern that is much less present in van-based last mile delivery models, where subcontracting remains the dominant approach among private operators. This highlights the relevance of establishing partnerships with retailers – including independent shops; which may see a decline in PUDO offerings – as well as with carrier-agnostic locker networks
We estimate that eCommerce delivery via lockers accounts for 6–8% in France (compared to 70% for home delivery, with the remainder going through physical pickup points). Home delivery therefore remains by far the dominant option.
Home delivery will remain a dominant option; however, its market share is expected to decline, and its pricing will increasingly differ from that of locker deliveries
Beyond the convenience for certain customer use cases, carriers are primarily interested in the operational efficiency in the last mile, with a delivery ratio that can range from 1 to 10 in terms of parcels delivered per route by the same driver.
